We are excited to announce an important addition to the IMC team, Prentice (Skip) Strong. Skip lives on Mount Desert Island, south of Bangor in Maine. He is a Maine Maritime graduate. Following a distinguished career at sea (1984-1996) with Keystone Shipping Co., including 3 years serving as Master, Skip came ashore to become a full time pilot. He has piloted thousands of vessels in Penobscot Bay and River, and Frenchman’s Bay.

During his period commanding the SS Cherry Valley, Skip was involved in a daring rescue of tug J.A. Oregon and her towed barge Poseidon off the Florida Coast during a tropical storm. The rescue and resultant salvage of a NASA Liquid Fuel Cell for the Space Shuttle stowed on the barge saved lives and extremely valuable property, resulted in a historic salvage award.

Skip co-authored a most interesting and informative book “In Peril” and has lectured and written articles on the resolve and seamanship behind this dramatic event. Over the years Skip has earned a stellar reputation serving as an expert witness and providing technical advice to maritime attorneys on cases where his skills as a Master, Pilot and Navigator have proved invaluable.

We have recommended Skip to many of our clients and also worked on the opposite side of cases. He has earned our deep respect and is a perfect fit for our growing team of professionals. We look forward to continuing our personal and professional relationship with Skip for many years to come.
